Education is another central ministry of the Province, which has fourteen schools under its care. With the exception of Our Lady of Good Counsel (OLGC) School in Mumbai, these schools are located predominantly in rural and economically disadvantaged areas, serving children from poor and marginalized communities and opening doors to a better future through quality education.
Most of these schools operate under considerable financial strain, often unable to generate sufficient income to cover their own running costs; the Provincial office regularly provides financial support to keep them functioning. Despite these challenges, the Province continues to regard education as an essential part of its Franciscan mission — one that demands real sacrifice and commitment from the friars, who carry it out with joy and dedication, believing deeply in education's power to transform lives and open new horizons of hope for young people who might otherwise have very few opportunities.
